Read more about Rosemary Oil

What is Rosemary?

Perched on rocky shores and alongside windy slopes, embracing the spraying mist from the crashing waves of the Mediterranean Sea, you’ll find the shrub-like evergreen known for generations as rosemary. Its name derives from ros and marinus, the respective Latin words for “dew” and “sea.” While rosemary’s silver-green needles make it reminiscent of tall evergreens, it is actually a member of the Labiatae family—meaning it’s related to mint!

Rosemary has a far-reaching use in human history. For centuries, the herb has been utilized in both culinary and wellness practices. Before the invention of proper refrigeration, sprigs of rosemary were used to help keep meat from spoiling—which is possibly one of the reasons why it’s such a popular seasoning for meat today! Despite being the herb of commoners in times of royalty, rosemary in its essential oil form is one of the most treasured in aromatherapy.

Rosemary Essential Oil

Steam distilled from the needles and flowers, rosemary essential oil emits a pleasantly strong herbaceous scent, with a refreshing woody balsamic undertone. This aroma is celebrated for helping to strengthen memory and enhance crystal-clear focus and retention. In addition, it is revered for elevating moods and helping to gently ease occasional stress and mental tension, leading to a greater sense of inspiration and energy!

Blending essential oils opens up a world of aromatherapy possibilities! Other oils that complement Rosemary oil’s sharp, camphoraceous fragrance: cedarwood, cinnamon leaf, citronella, lavender, peppermint, and pine oils.

Piping Rock's pure Rosemary Oil is available in 1/2 oz., 2 oz. & 16 oz. bottles.

Rosemary Oil Directions for Use

Add 3-5 drops of Rosemary Oil to a diffuser or vaporizer, to a bowl of steaming water or a hot bath to fill a room with its herbaceous scent. To use topically, add ~5 drops of Frankincense Oil to ~10 mL of any Piping Rock carrier oil.

Rosemary Oil is for external use only and should be diluted in a carrier oil such as sweet almond, jojoba, grapeseed or avocado oil before being used topically. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. Always consult your trusted physician before adding any essential oil to your regimen, especially if you are pregnant, nursing or taking any medications. Discontinue use and alert your doctor should an adverse reaction occur. Keep out of reach of children and away from eyes and mouth. Essential oils are flammable.
